About Masek Golf Car Company

Masek Golf Car Company has a long and colorful history of customer service, going back to March of 1930. In the darkest time of the Great Depression, our founder, Fred Masek, started Masek Auto Supply Company at the corner of 10th and M Streets in downtown Gering, Nebraska. By satisfying customers and giving loyal employees part ownership of the business, Fred was able (with a lot of old-fashioned hard work!) to make the business successful. In the late thirties, we began to branch out, and eventually had six wholesale auto parts stores in Nebraska, Wyoming, and South Dakota. Recreation has always been part of our heritage, and since Fred was a fisherman, his interests gradually led the company into the boat, trailer and outboard motor distribution business over a larger and larger territory.

A turning point in the company's history came in 1964, when we became the first company in the United States to import and sell Kawasaki motorcycles. That relationship with Kawasaki as a wholesale distributor covering Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, and the Dakotas, lasted for 31 years. The current president of the company, Joe Masek, returned from service in the US Army in 1972. Over time and with assistance from Neil Allison, Joe assumed leadership of the company. Laurie Goss was hired in 1977 and still serves the company as General Manager and corporate secretary-treasurer.

Masek Distributing began doing business with Yamaha Golf Cars in 1993, acquiring the Kansas City territory after having been in the golf car business for five years with Columbia ParCar and Hyundai. The current territory for Yamaha includes much of the same geographic area we have been working within since the days of Starcraft Boats and Scott-Atwater outboard motors: Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, most of Nebraska, Kansas, and western Missouri. We cover more square miles than any other distributor of golf cars in the continental USA, and can lay claim to the "largest golf car distributor" in the territory coverage category.

We are able to satisfy the market in such a wide area by building dealer relationships across the territory to service fleet cars and sell and service individual golf cars and Pony Trucks, our registered trade mark for golf cars converted to use as utility vehicles…"Rides like a pony; works like a truck!" Our parts business, managed by Brian Fulk, is supported by one of the largest golf car parts inventories in private distributorship ownership anywhere in the US. We can ship almost any part ever put on a Yamaha golf car overnight, plus we have the "world's largest retail supply" of Hyundai golf car parts and a large stock of older ParCar and Harley Davidson parts. Besides our growing dealer network, our Colorado customers are served by our own fleet service center located in Commerce City, Colorado (Denver area). Our Denver location has been in place since 1989 and is now managed by Jason Masek, so we're started on our third generation.

The company's largest shareholder by far is our Employee Stock Ownership Plan ("ESOP"), so everyone you contact at Masek's is an owner of the company. Our goals are to satisfy our markets, make some money, be in business relationships with good people, and….have some fun! We encourage you to be a part of our growing business!
